President's Address

Dear Members,

As 2010 draws to a close, I offer my warmest wishes for a safe and prosperous New Year to all CSA members and their families. Before we begin 2011, I pause to reflect upon a few of this year's momentous decisions that will certainly impact our profession, such as the California court’s disappointing and misguided decision to uphold Governor Schwarzenegger’s opt-out provision, as well as the ramifications for patients and practitioners alike that will necessarily result from the newly passed heath care regulations.

In light of the significant and serious challenges these changes present not only to maintaining the integrity our practice, but to that of other medical specialties, I strongly urge all members to make 2011 a year of decisive action and to include among your New Year’s resolutions a renewed commitment toward involvement in supporting the CSA, and ultimately, the future of your profession.

Narendra S. Trivedi, M.D.
CSA President 2010-11

Dr. Trivedi Attends NYSSA House of Delegates Meeting; Meets with Masimo Execs

Earlier this month, Dr. Trivedi attended the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists (NYSSA) Post Graduate Assembly Meeting where he was invited to participate in the House of Delegates session as an honored guest. The focus of Dr. Trivedi's meeting with the leadership of the NYSSA was to explore ways in which the CSA and NYSSA could collaborate in developing improved and mutually beneficial public relations and communication strategies. Dr. Trivedi has also invited NYSSA President to attend the CSA Annual Meeting in May 2011 where he is looking forward to continuing in developing close ties between our two organizations.

Also in December, Dr. Trivedi met with Masimo Corporation's CEO, Joe Kiani and Abe Kiani, MD, Director of Clinical Research. As a result of this meeting, Masimo has pledged a financial contribution in support of CSA activities. The contribution is expected to be around $10,000.
